Who am I?
Hi, I’m Camy.
I was born and raised in a small town in northern India, in a lower-middle-class family. We didn’t have much. Our neighbourhood was only a step away from a slum. Life was hard, and from an early age, I had to navigate the deeply rooted patriarchy that shaped so much of society around me.
One of the best things I had going for me as a child was this — my parents believed in equal education. They gave me the same opportunities they gave my brother. It may sound simple, but in the world I grew up in, it was a radical act. For that, I will always be grateful.
At 25, I moved to Aotearoa New Zealand by myself. Since then, I’ve worked across various several roles in technology across several NZ companies. Every step of the journey has shaped how I see the world — and how I show up in it.
